Letters / Judicial review
I wholly agree with Vic Thomas with his well thought out and researched letter (Irregularities and concerns; SN 25/4/12)
A judicial review and formal public inquiry would certainly sort out a few myths and give everyone a chance to step back and take a long hard look at the rationale behind the Viking Energy project.
The time gained would also give time for unknowns such as electricity watchdog Ofgem’s assessment on the viability of an interconnector cable to Shetland, and other such thorny issues as Scotland’s independence and Shetland’s position in the consequence of such an eventuality.
Further too that medical evidence of possible health damage from close proximity of turbines will be better researched and should have conclusive results.
The project will not necessarily be dead, just delayed for a year or so. Surely that has to be a sensible way forward.
I commend Vic on his input to this debate.
