Letters / Just back from Nesting
I have just got back to my desk after a day in the north half of Nesting, where I have been warmly welcomed at every door I knocked at.
I confess I didn’t get as far to the suddard as I would have wanted today as so many folk invited me in for a yarn.
I was really surprised at how much support there is for the Viking Energy project – many actually seem to be enthusiastic about the chance of something in the area to bring a bit of prosperity.
I can’t help but feel that you are the ‘poor relations’ as far as transport services and employment is concerned and it does seem that perhaps your needs have been neglected for the last few years.
Have been reading through the community council minutes and Nesting seems to be a busy and vibrant area – we will have to see if we can bring some more of your plans to fruition.
I am going to try to get around the south of the Nesting area over the next few days and would expect there to be more resistance to Viking Energy the further south I get as the turbines get closer to the houses.
I need to know what you think so that I can properly represent you should I be lucky enough to be elected. (One voter today suggested that far fae lucky to be elected, I had to be mad to want to join the next council).
I am very aware that the North Mainland is a huge area and has very diverse needs – I will do my best to represent you all should you choose me as one of the three councillors for the area – it is time to reintroduce democracy and openness to the council chamber.
