News / Northmavine development
A SERIES of open nights in Northmavine this week hope to shed light on the potential future of a historic building in Hillswick.
Northmavine Community Development Company is looking to develop the derelict store opposite the shop, which could be turned into a business hub is there is enough local interest.
A feasibility study has been drawn up by Shetland architects Redman + Sutherland, which will be on show at local halls starting on Monday night at North Roe.
NCDC are keen to hear of anyone who may be interested in setting up an office or workshop in the building, remote working or any other ideas for development in the area.
Over the past two years the organisation has re-opened the Hillswick shop, overseen two new houses for social rent in North Roe, built public toilets on Collafirth pier, has designed and built the popular “polycrub” kit and is looking into a potential hydro electric scheme. They are also offering a book keeping service for local businesses.
The open nights all run from 7-9pm and are at:
North Roe hall – Monday 9 April;
Sullom hall – Tuesday 10 April;
The Booth, Hillswick – Thursday 12 April;
Eshaness hall – Monday 16 April;
Ollaberry primary school – Tuesday 17 April
