News / Sign up for Sport Relief
ACTIVE and public spirited Shetlanders are being encouraged to participate in two Sport Relief events this weekend.
Baltasound junior high school will host Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at 2pm on Saturday, with participants invited to sign up at 1.30pm.
On Sunday people on the mainland can sign up to the Lerwick Mile event at the Clickimin athletics track at 10am for a 10.30am start.
Both events will have the option of a one, three and six mile event for participants to choose from. Registrations can also be made online at www.sportrelief.com.
Lerwick Mile organiser Karen Woods said Sunday teas would be provided at the Clickimin by Shetland Rugby Club offering “well earned refreshments for those who have completed their distance challenge.”
In Baltasound organiser Caroline Hunter said she hopes to repeat the tremendous turn out when the event was last held in 2010
“We want to make the day even bigger this year and we’d love to see as many folk as possible taking part on Saturday afternoon. Why not pull up your Sport Relief socks and come along with friends or family to get active, have fun and raise some money!”
