News / Ferry regulator
TRANSPORT minister Keith Brown has been accused of dragging his feet on the appointment of a ferries regulator for Scotland.
Highlands and islands list Labour MSP David Stewart said he is convinced the industry needs a regulator to ensure the highest possible level of service for the islands.
“I would have thought that this appointment would be high on the list of priorities with regards to the ferries plan, but all talk of the ferry regulator seems to have gone overboard,” Mr Stewart said.
He was responding to a written answer from Mr Brown which said the government was exploring “what legislative provision would be involved in setting up a ferries regulator”.
