News / Shetland News celebrates
To celebrate the first birthday of our new website on 22 March 2012, Shetland News is launching a special competition in association with the local graphic design and print company Artmachine.
We are asking our readers to design a celebratory masthead for us. Winning entries will replace the website’s existing design for one week each.
Entrants will be split into four age groups 5-10 years; 11 – 15 years; 15-20 years and 20 + years.
So if you are a budding artist, graphic designer or creative in any way, then get out the pens, pencils, paints or your favourite design software and get designing!
The competition brief and design guidelines can be downloaded here along with information on how to submit your entry.
The deadline for entries is 14 March when they will be uploaded to Facebook for our readers to vote for their favourites. The five most popular entries in each category will then be judged by local graphic design and print company Artmachine who will select four winners.
Please note that winning entries will be digitally enhanced prior to publication and must comply with the competition brief.
Any questions should be directed to Chloe Mackie at chloe@shetnews.co.uk

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
Your contribution will ensure Shetland News can: -
- Bring you the headlines as they happen;
- Stay editorially independent;
- Give a voice to the community;
- Grow site traffic further;
- Research and publish more in-depth news, including more Shetland Lives features.
If you appreciate what we do and feel strongly about impartial local journalism, then please become a supporter of Shetland News by either making a single payment or monthly subscription.
