News / Man bailed over shotgun threat to terminal
A SHETLAND man who threatened to approach the oil terminal at Sullom Voe with a shotgun saying that staff should take cover has been released on bail from Lerwick Sheriff Court.
Roderick Nicolson, of Da Kupp, Tresta, admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner when he appeared from custody on Tuesday.
The court heard that the 48 year old had called the terminal on Monday and made the threats, following which security was tightened.
Nicolson was arrested after firearms officers successfully negotiated him from his home.
Sentence on Nicolson was deferred until 7 March and he was released on bail on condition that he does not go near or attempt to contact the oil terminal.
