News / NHS appoints new finance director
NHS SHETLAND has appointed a new director of finance following the departure last month of Nick Kenton, who has taken up the same role with the larger health authority NHS Highland.
Colin Marsland will join the Shetland health board at the beginning of March after leaving his post as senior finance manager with the North Yorkshire and York Primary Care Trust.
Mr Marsland was trained in Scotland and has previously worked for health authorities in Forth Valley, Grampian and Fife.
Until his arrival the post of director of finance is being filled on a part time basis by former NHS Borders director of finance Robert Kemp, who is in the islands three days a week while remaining in contact the rest of the time.
NHS Shetland chief executive Ralph Roberts, who worked at NHS Borders before starting his new job 12 months ago, welcomed the new appointment.
“I am delighted that Colin is coming to join us in Shetland. He brings a range of experience to the board and will, I am sure, play an important role as we continue to provide quality services to the local population,” Mr Roberts said.
