News / Flood alert
DRIVERS are being warned to watch out for flash floods as culverts and bridges struggle to keep up with the rapid melting snow coupled with torrential rain on Thursday.
NorthLink ferries and freight vessels on Friday remain under review with strong winds and heavy seas forecast.
Flights in and out of Scatsta were diverted to Sumburgh airport, while flights to and from the mainland were affected in the afternoon due to conditions on the Scottish mainland.
Anyone travelling on Friday is advised to contact Loganair to see of flights are on schedule.
The forecast for Thursday night is for severe north westerly gales, worst in the south mainland, gusting up to 80mph, with sleet turning to snow as temperatures drop close to zero.
