News / Wishart back in the chair

LERWICK North councillor Allan Wishart has been unanimously appointed as chairman of the environment and transport committee, after Iris Hawkins resigned as a councillor earlier this autumn.

Formerly known as the infrastructure committee, Mr Wishart had been its chairman from 2007 until August 2009 when he swapped roles with then vice-chair Iris Hawkins to become Viking Energy’s project co-ordinator.

North Isles councillor Robert Henderson was elected vice-chair beating Lerwick South member Jim Henry by eight votes to seven.
