News / Schiehallion back on stream
OIL COMPANY BP confirmed on Wednesday that oil production at their west of Shetland Schiehallion field was back on stream after having been out of action for the last five months.
Production was restarted at the weekend and oil production was gradually increasing, a company spokesman said.
He added that BP had replaced the floating production and storage vessel’s mooring lines as a precaution after the Maersk Gryphon FPSO, east of Aberdeen, was dislodged in a storm in February this year.
Restarting production is a much needed boost for the Sullom Voe Terminal where oil from Schiehallion these days accounts for 40 per cent of traffic.
