Dariya Zgoba in action at the Chinese Olympics

TWO of the world’s top gymnasts are to visit Shetland in November from their homeland of Ukraine.

Iryna Krasnianska was 2006 world champion on the balance beam and Dariya Zgoba was 2007 European champion on the asymmetric bars.

Both have recently retired after representing Ukraine at the Olympics, and are now coaching. Krasnianska is also an aspiring choreographer.

During the month of November the pair will be coaching the 175 strong Shetland Gymnastics Club at the invitation of club coach Mark Wylie, who met them during a recent trip to Ukraine.

Mr Wylie said they were coming to Shetland as volunteers to help with warm ups, conditioning, skills, routines and choreography as well as to help judge the clubs competition.

It is also hoped they will have time to visit some local primary schools during their visit.
