News / Sheriff loses patience with Smith
SHERIFF Graeme Napier finally lost patience with a serial offender and sent him to prison for about 10 months at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Matthew Smith, of 13 Grodians, Lerwick had previously pled guilt to a string of seven offences committed over seven month period.
Sheriff Napier sentenced the 25 year old to 40 days in prison for possessing heroin on 2 July last year, and possessing methadone the following day.
He jailed him for 120 days for being involved in the supply of the class C drug diazepam, on 8 September last year, at South Lochside, in Lerwick, and at Sycamore Avenue, in Scalloway.
He imprisoned him to 60 days and disqualified him for a year, for taking a car without consent from an address at Sycamore Avenue, and driving without insurance, on 3 December.
He got a further 60 days for behaving in a threatening manner at a house at Millgaet, in Lerwick, on 13 February, and finally received a 26 day period in jail for stealing a bottle of shampoo from the local Tesco store, on 24 February.
The last two offences had been committed while on bail.
