News / Search resumes for overdue prawn boat

THE SEARCH for the Shetland prawn boat Breadwinner (WY367) and her one man crew will resume at first light this morning (Friday) after she was reported overdue on Thursday evening.
Shetland Coastguard was alerted at just after 9pm on Thursday after the 10 metre vessel failed to return to her berth at Morrison Dock, in Lerwick. The vessel did not respond to radio messages.
Lerwick lifeboat and the Coastguard helicopter searched a 250 square mile area east of Bressay all night, but found no trace of her.
The skipper of the vessel was last seen at 6.15am on Thursday morning when he was preparing to go out for a day’s prawn fishing.
