News / Gymnastics: First local competition

ALMOST 60 youngsters took part in floor and vault routines in the Shetland Gymnastics Club’s first competition last weekend at Lerwick’s Clickimin Leisure Complex.

Age seven girls winner was Aimee Smith; age seven boys winner was James Robertson; age eight winners were Arwen Grieve and Lauren Sandison; age nine winners were Hannah Georgeson and Hannah J Robertson; age 10 winner was Sonja Scollay; age 11 girls winner was Mhia Mouat; age 11 boys winner was Zevf Vessey; age 12+ winner was Karri Odie.

The highest overall floor score was won by Karis Williamson, the highest overall vault score by Karri Odie, and the most improved gymnast over the year was won by Hannah J Robertson.

Recently nine gymnasts aged nine to 11 narrowly missed out on a team bronze medal in the Highland Floor and Vault competition in Inverness, losing by just 0.05 points.
