News / Two court cases held in private
A 45 YEARS old Shetland man has been remanded in custody awaiting trial after he appeared in private before Lerwick Sheriff Court, on Friday.
George Michael Watt, of 27 Murrayston, Lerwick, is facing a charge of serious assault which has left the victim permanently disfigured.
Yesterday, he made no plea or declaration and was committed for trial. A date has not yet been fixed.
In a second case held in private at Lerwick Sheriff Court, a 47 year old man from Merseyside appeared from custody on a charge of contravening the misuse of drugs act.
Thomas Francis Mcaleavey, of 30 Wye Street, Liverpool, made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.
He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear before the court again next week.
