News / Lerwick man denies assaults
A SHETLAND man has been placed under a curfew after pleading not guilty to twoassaults in Lerwick over the weekend.
Gordon Comrie, aged 28, of Flat D, 7 Browns Buildings, Lerwick, appeared from custody sporting cuts and bruises at Lerwick Sheriff Court yesterday (Monday).
He denied knocking one man to the ground with a punch to the head and injuring another by repeatedly punching him in the head at Lerwick’s Harbour Street on Saturday night.
He also pled not guilty to being in possession of an offensive weapon, a wooden post.
Sheriff Graeme Napier set a trial for 3 June, and released him on bail on condition he remain at his house between 9pm and 7am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday and let the police in if they paid a visit to his home address.
