News / Festival put the Kettle on
THE SHETLAND Folk Festival has booked the popular children’s show The Singing Kettle to brighten up the isles at the end of April.
The performance at the 30th anniversary event marks a welcome return for the Kettle’s Cilla Fisher and Artie Tresize who performed at the inaugural festival in 1981.
The award winning show will stage one tea time performance on Thursday 29 April. Tickets cost £10 and go on sale at the festival’s Lerwick office, on Burns Lane, at 10am on 13 February.
Mhari Pottinger, of the festival committee, said: “It’s exciting to offer this extra concert as part of our 30th festival to help ensure that the younger members of our Shetland community are kept fully entertained.
“Mind you, no matter your age, the concert style performance from Cilla, Artie, Gary and Kevin is guaranteed to have the whole family dancing, laughing and singing the songs together! The interaction is contagious.”
Fourteen other musical acts visit Shetland for the festival this year. Tickets go on sale to festival members from mid March and to everyone else from 2 April.
Advance membership is available from 22 January until 29 February at www.shetlandfolkfestival.com
