ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently recruiting for a First Mate to join our workboat crew on board the Bagheera Vessel. Our service vessels provide vital support to marine farms across Shetland, assisting with a varied range of tasks including mooring work, towage, net changing, feed supply and distribution and general farm works.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and practical experience within a marine/aquaculture environment with at least 2 years operational experience of a similar sized vessel. Candidates should be experienced in gridwork and moorings and should be able to demonstrate a commitment to developing a strong safety culture.
Essential qualifications:
- Yacht master coastal or equivalent
- STCW 3 day fire fighting and fire prevention (FFFP)
- STCW approved First Aid.
Desired qualifications:
- SQA level 3 award in maritime studies; use of radar and electronic chart systems in code vessels
- AEC1 certification
- Approved stability course
The role requires a flexible approach to working hours and duties in order to meet operational needs. A proactive mindset, positive outlook, and willingness to take on new challenges are essential. You should understand the objectives of the crew and be ready to contribute effectively to achieving team targets.
If you’re motivated, ambitious, and eager to be part of a supportive and dedicated team, we would love to hear from you.
The vessel operates on a 2 week on/off rota system.
Please note this is not a live-aboard vessel and accommodation is not provided. Candidates must therefore be local to the Shetland area or willing to relocate, with the ability to travel to and from the vessel daily for their shifts.
