Applicants need to have good communication skills and be physically able for the tasks of the job. They should have a pleasant manner, smart appearance, and good standard of education. An Artistic flair and interest in fashion would also be an advantage.
Typical duties include: Greeting customers, shampooing their hair, laundry, keeping the salon clean and tidy, make bookings and take payments using our salon software system, assisting other members of staff with duties.
Gradual progression over the 3 year Apprenticeship to become a fully qualified Hairstylist will largely be gained through practical experience on the job until you are competent in all aspects of hairdressing, cutting, colouring, hair ups, etc. Some time will also be spent in Shetland College UHI.
