Isles artist’s puffin piece earns spot in London exhibition
AN ISLES artist is celebrating after her work was accepted into a highly respected showcase of wildlife art in London.
Yolanda Bruce has had her piece Puffin in Flight selected to appear in The Natural Eye 2026, which is currently taking place at the Mall Galleries in London.
The annual exhibition of the Society of Wildlife Artists is recognised as one of the UK’s most respected showcases for contemporary wildlife, and features more than 350 works.
Bruce said her selected piece is a monotype created through an intricate printmaking process, which begins with inking an acetate sheet, then wiping back areas to shape the puffin’s movement and form.
“Multiple layers of colour are printed to build depth, atmosphere and the distinctive energy of a bird in motion,” she explained.
She said the result was a “vibrant, dynamic image” which reflects her close engagement with wildlife and her “commitment to working directly from nature”.
Bruce said her inclusion in The Natural Eye marks an “important milestone in her developing practice”, placing her alongside leading wildlife artists across the UK and celebrating her connection to the coastal environments that inspire her work.
The event runs until Saturday 10 October, and the full exhibition can also be viewed online here.
