News / Road reopens after Quarff crash

THE A970 main road just north of Quarff has now reopened in both directions following a two vehicle crash.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash, which occurred just before 3pm.

The road was closed in both directions, and with no alternative route traffic was brought to a standstill in both directions.

However Shetland Islands Council confirmed at around 6pm that the road had reopened.

Emergency services which attended the accident included fire appliances, ambulances and the police.

The number six bus will resume service this evening, with the first bus departing the Viking Bus Station in Lerwick at 7pm for Sumburgh.
