SOME BUS services are set to resume this morning (Tuesday) as life in Shetland returns to some semblance of normality despite freezing temperatures.

Shetland Islands Council said buses to and from Sumburgh Airport, Walls, Vidlin, Hillswick and Toft would be among those getting back underway.

Services to Scalloway and Burra are still suspended, with a review at 9.30am.

And the service to Aith will only begin again at 3.40pm this afternoon from the Viking Bus Station.

The Lerwick town service bus is currently servicing the south loop of the town only due to the weather conditions.

Snow was scarce overnight but sub-zero temperatures have now brought icy conditions to some roads throughout Shetland.

All schools across the isles, and UHI Shetland, remain closed for a second day after a decision jointly taken by Police Scotland and Shetland Islands Council.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place from the Met Office until midnight tonight, with further snow showers forecast through the day.
