TWO SHETLANDERS were in the starting 11 for Golspie Sutherland at the weekend, with one of them wearing the captain’s armband.
Goalkeeper Henry Oldbury was the skipper for Golspie in Saturday’s clash against Fort William, with fellow former Spurs player Brandon McKay also starting in midfield.
The pair were unable to prevent Fort William from taking all three points however, with the away side running out 3-0 winners.
Golspie, who play in the North Caledonian league, started their season with a 2-1 win over St Duthus last Wednesday.
In the Highland League, Spencer Moreland was a late substitute as his Brechin City side thrashed Buckie Thistle to continue their perfect start to the season.
Brechin beat Buckie 5-0 on Saturday to make it six wins from six so far in the league, keeping them three points clear of Brora Rangers at the top of the table.
SPURS will look to seize the advantage in the Ocean Kinetics Premier League title race when they face town rivals Thistle tonight (Monday).
A win would put Spurs three points clear of Whitedale, with both sides currently locked together at the summit, with Whitedale then having a game in hand to catch up.
If both sides win their final two fixtures, a play-off will be needed to decide the champions.
Thistle welcome Spurs to the Gilbertson Park tonight, with Scalloway hosting Ness at Fraser Park and Celtic making the long journey to Whalsay.
There’s a similar picture in the DITT Reserve League, with Spurs B and Whitedale B locked in a battle for the title.
Spurs’ late leveller against Whitedale last Wednesday in a 3-3 thriller keeps Spurs top on goal difference, but with Whitedale having a game in hand against Delting.
The milkbags play their final game of the season against Celtic B on Wednesday night, with Whitedale B welcoming Thistle B to Strom at the same time.

If Whitedale B beat Thistle B and Delting with their final two league matches they will be crowned champions for a third successive year.
THE CLOCKTOWER ladies day was held at Lerwick Outdoor Bowling Club this weekend.
After a morning of cloud and light drizzle, blue sky and warm sunshine greeted 16 ladies who were drawn into pairs teams.
A round robin format meant each team played five games in the Hong Kong pairs format.
There was a mid-game break to enjoy the food provided by some of the male club members.
After all four rounds had been played, two teams were on top after winning three games and losing one.
When shot differences were taken into consideration in second place was the team of Caroline Smith and Angela Gifford, but out in front were Sarah Polson and Debs Morgan.
Clocktower owner Brian Smith presented the generous gift vouchers to the two teams.
SHETLAND’S men’s rugby team will get their season started with an away fixture on Saturday 30 August.
The side will travel to take on Mackie in their opening match, with the Shetland Valkyries kicking their campaign off at home to Highland a week later.
