Council / SIC premises affected by phone outage
A NUMBER of Shetland Islands Council (SIC) premises are currently being affected by a telephone outage, meaning calls to or from council phones may not connect.
There is a fault with the SIC’s internet-based telephone service and callers to council premises may find that their call does not get through.
The SIC said the extent of the disruption is not yet clear – some settings are unaffected while other locations are unable to take or make calls.
It is affecting the SIC’s ferry booking service. Anyone unable to get through on the phone is asked to email ferrybooking@shetland.gov.uk.
Emails and calls to mobile phones are working as normal but some online services, such as payments, are unavailable.
Staff in the council’s ICT service are currently working with the council’s external telephone provider to resolve this.
Anyone calling the council is asked to try again later or find an alternative means of contact.
The SIC said it apologises for any inconvenience.
The Clickimin Leisure Complex in Lerwick has also reported issues with phone lines and email, as well as Voluntary Action Shetland at Market House.
