Police / Man charged in connection with death of 24-year-old woman

A THIRTY nine year old man has been charged in connection with the death of a 24-year-old woman following a disturbance in the Sandness area on Sunday.

Police said the man is due to appear before Lerwick Sheriff Court on Thursday (15 February) and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

Officers were called to the Sandness area around 4.55pm on Sunday, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man was arrested and taken to hospital for treatment to injuries.
