Community / DVSA insists Lerwick will still have theory test centre
A DRIVING theory test centre will continue to be located in Lerwick, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVLA) has confirmed.
Eyebrows were raised when the government agency said it would be opening two test centres in Whalsay and Yell in early September, and closing its existing one at Islesburgh in Lerwick.
But the DVSA said this afternoon (Friday) it still intends to have a theory test base in Lerwick, as well as introduce new ones in Whalsay and Yell.
Its location has not yet been determined.
“After 6 September many theory test centre locations will change as we switch suppliers,” a spokesperson said.
“Once these changes have happened, we will provide theory test centres in Mid Yell and Symbister as well as Lerwick. We hope this will provide a robust and accessible service for the people of Shetland.
“We are still to confirm the address of the new Lerwick location. We are sorry for any inconvenience or confusion caused while we settle these final details; we will update local stakeholders as soon as this is done.”
