News / Twins accused of assault

TWIN brothers accused of assaulting a man at an address in Lerwick at the weekend have been granted bail after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court.

Lee Hamilton, of Griveship West, Stromness, and Drew Hamilton, of Hoofields, Lerwick, both aged 21, had their cases continued without plea until 22 November.

Lee Hamilton is accused of placing the man in a headlock at another address at Hoofields on Saturday, while both brothers are accused of assaulting him by butting him on the head, jumping on him and repeatedly punching him on the head – all to his injury.

Drew Hamilton is further accused of smashing the window of an external door at the property, while Lee Hamilton is charged with possessing a butterfly flick knife at Lerwick Police Station and NorthLink Ferry Terminal on Monday.

At the request of procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie a special condition was attached to their bail conditions that both men must not approach or contact the complainer.
