News / Late spring snowfall

IT MIGHT be nearly May, but you wouldn’t know it from the chilly winds and intermittent snowfall that Shetland has endured this weekend.

Thanks to Mark Berry for this image, taken in his garden in Gluss, Ollaberry, on Sunday (23 April).

The temperature was forecast to be close to freezing overnight into Monday – but thankfully for visitors to next weekend’s Shetland Folk Festival the weather is due to warm up later in the week and may even inch into double figures next Sunday!
