News / Driver unhurt after crash

The car was a write-off after leaving the road on Sunday.

THE DRIVER of a silver-coloured Volkswagen Polo escaped serious injury when he lost control over his vehicle, crashed through a fence and came to a halt in a field at the north end of the Lang Kames at around lunchtime on Sunday.

A police spokeswoman said the driver attended hospital in Lerwick for cuts and bruises but was otherwise fine following the incident on the A970 road. The vehicle is a write-off.

A second driver was uninjured when he lost control over his car and crashed near Voe a few hours later on Sunday afternoon.
