News / Nederdale fire

A WOMAN has been taken to hospital in Lerwick suffering from smoke inhalation following a fire in a house at Nederdale.

Two fire appliances from the Lerwick station were called to the blaze at just after 2am on Saturday morning.

Fire fighters were confronted with a fire in the kitchen of the two-storey house, and had to use six sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one main jet to tackle the fire.

Fire control said the kitchen was fire damaged in the blaze while the rest of the house suffered smoke damage.
