Election: how to improve the air service

{code playerAd|164290159}

THE RELIABILITY of Loganair’s air service to the Scottish islands has been plagued by delays due to technical faults over the past 18 months.

The company itself acknowledged last autumn that standards had fallen far below what is acceptable, with one in four flights delayed by more than 15 minutes during 2015.

We asked each of the four candidates for the Shetland constituency in next week’s Holyrood election for their thoughts on whether introducing a public service obligation (PSO) on the route would improve things.
