News / Power off out west

SCOTTISH and Southern Energy said they hope to have power restored to 255 properties in Bixter, Tresta and Weisdale ay 1.30pm after the lights went out earlier on Thursday morning.

A SSE spokesman said electricity was lost at 10.30am and engineers were on site investigating the fault at the company’s substation at Tumblin.

Meanwhile, almost 100 households in Cunningsburgh lost power in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

The interruption occurred in the Brind area just after 2am due to a fault in SSE’s underground cable network. Power was back on for the 96 customers around five hours later.
