News / Nelson remanded

A TWENTY six year old man has been remanded in custody after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday charged with brandishing a hammer at a member of the public.

Adam Nelson, of 17 Undirhoull, Scalloway, appeared from custody to deny behaving in a threatening and abusive manner at Lerwick’s King Harald Street on 5 February.

Sheriff Willie Shannon refused defence agent Chris Dowle’s plea for Nelson to be bailed and remanded him in custody.

Nelson was given an intermediate diet of 1 March via videolink and a trial diet of 17 March.

Meanwhile, a 33 year old man was released on bail after appearing from custody on drugs charges.

Appearing in private, Christopher Eccles, from Inverness, made no plea or declaration.

He is also charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice.
