Barbaric butchering

Congratulations to Shetland News on giving reports on what has occurred in the Faroes (‘Anti whaling campaigners continue protest’, SN 24/7/15).

I live in southern Tasmania, and literally thousands of us here, connected through social media, have been shocked by seeing the barbaric butchering, even by children and teenagers, of the pilot whales in this “Grind”.

We are in the area Princess Mary was raised and educated in, and we are particularly incensed, and dismayed, by the key role that the so-called Danish Navy played in this slaughter. In fact, it could not have happened on such an enormous scale if the sickening Navy had not been so stridently involved!

i hope the Shetlands benefit, in tourism, from this dreadful event, as the name ‘Faroe’ is now anathema to many millions of interested people worldwide.

Again, thank you for such honest reporting, and best wishes from an island at the other end of the world.

John Kelly,

Tasmania
