Letters / Respecting our differences
Members of Yes Shetland and Better Together Shetland attended the Unst Show on Saturday, as we have done with lots of other shows and venues across the isles.
And as usual we nip along to speak and have a bit of banter about anything and everything.
This included one of the Yes team having a UKOK badge applied just next to the Yes badge he was wearing! And the No team serving Yes cups of tea while we waited at Ulsta ferry terminal.
They have their views, we have ours, and we both accept that. What we do not accept is the constant attempt by the national media to try and insinuate that Scotland is being divided by the vote. It is not.
The bulk of the media have been an absolute disgrace during the referendum campaign. As have a few people in positions of power and authority who should know better.
The media we have in Shetland is of a high standard, what most of Scotland gets is atrocious, especially BBC Scotland.
Tea? Yes or No?

Shetland News is asking its many readers to consider start paying for their dose of the latest local news delivered straight to their PC, tablet or mobile phone.
Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
Your contribution will ensure Shetland News can: -
- Bring you the headlines as they happen;
- Stay editorially independent;
