Letters / Speak up…now!
The vast majority of Shetland folk must be fed up with the correspondence between the usual suspects of Sustainable Shetland and the windfarm and connector supporters, so I apologise in advance for yet another letter from this select group.
The issue right now is that the proposals have gone right through the democratic system with the second SS appeal against the windfarm (and connector) having been turned down by the judges assessing it.
Notwithstanding that the process has been democratic, SS are in denial of this fact. They also are in denial that they are a small and decreasing minority of Shetland (see the last Shetland Times survey) opinion.
The chances of winning a third appeal, to the Supreme Court, are negligible but that is perhaps not the purpose of the appeal. The purpose is to delay the windfarm and connector as long as possible, hoping that it then won’t happen.
It is a wrecking strategy by a minority designed to deny generations of Shetlanders a sustainable future.
If you are a supporter of the windfarm, connector and the spin-off renewable energy industry it will bring, now is the time to speak up!
