News / 20 year old bailed on drugs charges

A YOUNG Lerwick woman was released on bail after a private appearance in the town’s sheriff court having being found in possession of suspected heroin with an estimated street value of £4,200.

Mhairi-Claire Rose Stewart was arrested at Lerwick’s Holmsgarth ferry terminal after being searched by police on Thursday.

The 20 year old made no plea or declaration to charges of contravening the Misuse of Drugs Act and was committed for further examination.

On Thursday 47 year old Lerwick woman Desiree Hassan was remanded in custody after her second appearance in private at the court, following the discovery of suspected Class A drugs with an estimated street value of £4,000 at a house in Lerwick on Wednesday last week. She too has made no plea or declaration.
