News / Attacker remains in jail

SENTENCE on a Lerwick man who admitted assaulting his wife to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement was deferred for reports until later this month when he appeared from custody before the town’s sheriff court on Wednesday.

George Michael Watt, described as a prisoner in Aberdeen, assaulted his wife at their home at Murrayston on 19 May this year.

He is charged with assaulting her by grabbing her by the hair and dragging her out of a bed onto the floor where he repeatedly punched and kicked her on the head and body.

There was no application for bail and 45 year old Watt was remanded in custody until sentencing on 28 July.
