NO decisions have been made yet on whether there will be any more series of the Shetland crime drama.

It comes after locations manager Tim Maskell told the website CrimeReads in a new interview that no further series are planned at the moment.

But the future of the show “will probably come down to the ratings” of the last couple of series, he said.

The popular crime drama, which is partly filmed in Shetland, has a seventh series waiting to air on the BBC. Series six was broadcast last year.

A BBC Scotland spokesperson told Shetland News: “As we haven’t aired series seven of Shetland yet, it’s too early to confirm if there will be any more series.”

The TV show, which is based on Ann Cleeves novels, debuted in 2013.

It features actor Douglas Henshall in the lead role of Jimmy Perez.

The series has enjoyed popularity across the world and has been credited with bringing extra tourism to Shetland.
