SHETLAND Arts has made a surplus for a third year in a row.
The organisation made a surplus of £2,000 in 2017/18, which was a drop from £13,000 the previous year.
Chief executive Graeme Howell said this came against a backdrop of “continued funding cuts”.
Shetland Arts, which runs Mareel in Lerwick, made a total income of £2.446 million over the last financial year, which was a decrease from £2.5 million.
Its expenditure was reduced from £2.487 million in 2016/17 to £2.444 million.
Shetland Arts received £694,000 from Shetland Charitable Trust in 2017/18, as well as £265,000 from Creative Scotland, £50,000 from other public bodies, £4,000 from Shetland Islands Council and £2,000 from donations, gifts and legacies.
The organisation delivered 165 concerts and events and enjoyed attendances of 284,9731 across Bonhoga, The Garrison Theatre, Mareel, elsewhere in Shetland and online from live streams.
Howell said the latest surplus is “testament to the hard work of all the staff to ensure the organisations’ continuing financial viability”.
“Reductions in funding will remain a challenge in the coming years, but we are confident that the organisation is continuing to move in the right direction, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners, stakeholders and customers for their ongoing support,” he added.
Shetland Arts has also released a new customer survey, with people able to offer their views until 31 October.
It can be carried out online, while paper copies can be picked up at Mareel and Bonhoga from Friday (5 October).
