News / Man remanded following sudden death
A LERWICK man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court following a sudden death in Shetland.
Ross Sutherland, aged 28, appeared in private from custody at Lerwick Sheriff Court charged with assault to severe injury.
Sutherland was arrested on Thursday and charged in connection with the sudden death of a 34 year old man last weekend.
The man was found dead in a property in the township of Cunningsburgh on Saturday at around 10.20pm.
Police initially treated the death as unexplained.
On Friday Sutherland made no plea or declaration before being committed for further examination and led back to the cells.
He is due to appear in court again next Friday.
