Letters / Very creditable result
Does Mr Adams believe that, by patronising me as being “good at simple arithmetic”, readers of his letter Rematch in 18 months time (SN, 8 September 2019) will overlook his failure to address the salient points I made in Brush up on your arithmetic (SN, 6 September 2019) that the winning candidate had not only avoided the well-known curse of the eccentric British by-election, but had also achieved a very creditable result in comparison to the more usual elections of recent years?
In his second sentence, Mr Adams sets out to instruct me in voter turnout, just as if I’d overlooked it, whereas in fact, it is implicit in my statement regarding raw scores – so not such simple arithmetic after all.
