News / Storm Arwen set to bring disruptions
THE MET office has upgraded its weather warning for Friday and Saturday to amber for some parts of Scotland – while also naming the first big storm of the winter.
Storm Arwen is expected to bring northerly gusts of up to 80 miles an hour to Shetland, Orkney and along the east coast of Scotland.
While ferry services on the Northern Isles routes have not been cancelled yet, NorthLink said on Thursday morning that there was a “high probability” that both passenger services would not operate.
The freight service is also likely to be affected.
