Community / Voe Show called off
THIS YEAR’s Voe Show has been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The annual event was due to be held on 1 August.
The committee said it was “extremely disappointed not to be having the show, but this is the right decision for us at this time”.
“Even if restrictions are lifted and we were allowed to hold it, we feel it would be irresponsible to hold a large event in a few months time where people come in to close contact with each other,” it said.
“You can use this time in isolation to get busy with crafting and knitting so next year we can look forward to bumper entries in those categories at the show.
“We hope everyone understands and respects our decision and we look forward to seeing you all next year.”
The Voe Show is the latest local event to be cancelled amid the coronavirus crisis.
A number of others remain under review, such as the Shetland Amenity Trust’s nature festival, boat week and wool week.
