Letters / Similarities with South Suffolk
I live in South Suffolk; in the next town there is a river in Sudbury called the River Stour.
Given that Shetland has an island called Papa Stour and that both our areas were invaded by the Vikings who passed on some of the Scandinavian words and names, perhaps someone should get in touch with Suffolk County Council and/or the town council with a view of a sort of twinning.
We came under the Dane law as Shetland came under Norway and Sweden so perhaps we should shake hands in friendship with view to some of this similarity.
I happened to have watched a programme on BBC2 Scotland in which Paul Merton briefly covered this area and there are similarities.
