Letters / Wrong target
Vic Thomas picks the wrong target in pressing Jonathan Wills to reconfirm his stance on the Shetland Charitable Trust (Be clear what you stand for; SN, 24/10/16).
With power comes responsibility. Shetland’s vested interest tolerant Liberal Democrat political establishment should have ensured Shetland’s oil millions were properly guarded a good time back.
It is the local illiberal liberal antidemocratic democrats that need to be held to account for failing to deliver accountability in their feudal fiefdom.
If they would but back Shetland Islands Council and Shetland Association of Community Council in seeking direct elections for most or all of the trustees on Shetland’s Charitable Trust it would be possible to at least start to stop the rot.
