News / Overtaking at blind summit leads to fine
A MOTORIST who overtook other cars on the approach to a blind summit admitted driving without due care and attention at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.
Tracey Jack, 49, of Walls, committed the offence on 7 May on the A971 between Weisdale and Whiteness at 9.10am.
The court heard she overtook two cars when she could not have seen oncoming traffic.
Police received a report of the incident from a driver and after they put out a press release, another driver came forward to back the first statement.
Sheriff Ian Cruickshank said that it was an example of careless driving that could have had fatal consequences.
Jack was fined £500 and had her licence endorsed with nine penalty points.
