News / Alcohol licences
PEOPLE who have a personal licence to sell alcohol are being reminded to check that they are up to date with their training.
Shetland Islands Area Licensing Board said the reminder particularly applied to anyone issued with a licence in 2009 – refresher training is obligatory after holding a licence for five years.
Failure to comply will result in individuals having their licence revoked – and will then have to wait a full five years before they can apply for another one.
Licensing board convener George Smith said: “The law is clear on this issue – if a licence holder’s training isn’t up to date, the board has to revoke their licence.
“We’re particularly concerned that licence holders may have moved and forgotten to pass on their new address to us, in which case they won’t have received their reminder notice. Anyone with any concerns should contact the board as soon as possible.”
