Letters / Rue the day
In reply to Craig Johnson (Pointing out the spin; SN 16/5/12), I reckon membership means nothing.
I am not a member of Sustainable Shetland, I’m just an ordinary Shetland citizen concerned about the islands we live in and have the same point of view as a lot of other people. We don’t have to join anything, we just want what’s best for our environment.
My remark about Bressay (Should have had a referendum; SN 15/5/12) was tongue in cheek as Dr Wills apparently is looking to further his career at the Shetland Charitable Trust; he lives in Bressay and also will support this venture.
I also disagree with what’s happening in Aberdeen. Union Square Gardens has been the same as long as I can remember, I can even remember dancing on a sunny afternoon at a concert, but no, it can’t be left to grow naturally. A fortune has to be spent turning it into concrete and glass.
Nobody listens to what the people want, they blunder on with their good ideas. Shetland will rue the day when this windfarm venture starts. The size of it will gobsmack them all.
I have seen them in Spain and Portugal, a novelty, but living with it is something else.
